Distance Learning & Telemedicine Grants

Approximately $27 million in grant funding is available for projects that use telecommunications, audio and video equipment, and related advanced technologies to deliver education and health care services in rural areas. The program is authorized under 7 U.S.C. 950aaa and governed by 7 CFR Part 1734. Grants are awarded competitively with no loan component in the current window.
DLT funding builds the network and end user technology that links a rural site (the school, library, college, clinic, hospital, or community facility receiving the service) to instructors, course content, specialists, and consulting providers at a hub site. The program is designed to bring courses, training, specialty care, and behavioral health services to rural communities where these resources are otherwise unavailable or limited.
